John Buscema had the distinction of introducing the Black Panther to the Avengers roster in Avengers, Vol. 1 #52. The Black Panther played a pivotal role on the team during this era which included a battle with the X-Men, the second Masters of Evil, and Ultron.

Several Black Panther-focused stories were told during Buscema's tenure, including "The Monarch and the Man-Ape" (Avengers, Vol. 1 #62) and a battle against the Sons of the Serpent in Avengers, Vol. 1 #73-74.

One of the most famous members of the Marvel Bullpen, Buscema went on to draw many of Marvel's comics over the years, but is perhaps most famous for his long run on Conan the Barbarian.
